HajimeNow — Privacy Policy Last updated: May 2026
HajimeNow does not collect, store, transmit, or share any personal data.
All information generated through your use of the app — including study progress, flashcard reviews, streaks, kanji and vocabulary mastery, settings, and any notes — is stored exclusively on your device using local storage, and optionally synced through your personal iCloud Key-Value Store. It never leaves your device except through your own iCloud account, which is encrypted by Apple and accessible only to you.
We have no servers. We receive no data from you. There are no accounts, no sign-in, no analytics, no tracking, and no third-party SDKs that collect information.
iCloud sync, when active, is provided entirely by Apple's iCloud infrastructure. Your study data is synchronized only between devices signed into your own Apple ID. The developer of this app cannot read, access, or recover this data. You can disable iCloud sync at any time in iOS Settings → [your name] → iCloud → Apps Using iCloud → HajimeNow.
When you tap a Japanese word to hear its pronunciation, the app uses your device's built-in text-to-speech engine. The audio is generated on-device. No audio data is sent off-device.
The only data that leaves your device in a user-initiated way is when you use the Export feature, which shares a backup file directly from your device to a destination you choose (such as Files or email). This action is entirely initiated and controlled by you.
